Installations

Unlike other automation companies, we don’t have a standard controls solution that we insist on. We are very happy to work with local controls / electrical engineering companies with their preferred architectures and integrate with them. This has the benefit that the installation, commissioning and support of the system can be provided at a more local level, without the need to fly in an engineer from afar (a common problem with automation systems at present).

We are happy to provide engineering services to enable partners to get up to speed with the controls solution – so that they need the minimum of support to implement a solution. Ideally by the second or third installed system, they are working independently. In this way we keep the costs down, and provide a speedy response time to any control issues. It’s also helping sustainability – fewer flights = saving the planet.

Of course, if required, we can provide complete control solutions (drives and control) from our partner network, but this is often not cost-competitive against a more local solution.

XMove Installation at Geelong Arts Centre

XMove is up and running at our first fixed installation venue in Australia. Recently opened following a complete redevelopment, the Little Malop Street building has now been transformed to create the largest dedicated regional arts centre in Australia with a unique design that reflects Geelong’s history, culture and creativity.

Within this venue, The Story House, a multi-format 550-seat theatre, expanding to 850 in ‘live gig’ mode is a flexible space with versatile configurations and a fully automated fly system comprising 25 over-stage bars, 36 chain hoists running 9 lighting trusses and 2 orchestra pit lifts.

The Story House allows audiences to immerse themselves in new worlds, experience a sense of occasion and ensure the creation of exceptional and extraordinary experiences.

“We have worked with world leaders to design these spaces, pushing the boundaries of what theatre spaces will need now and what they can be for the future.” Geelong Arts Centre CEO and Creative Director, Joel McGuinness

The installation of the system was successfully completed without requiring our presence on site at all. However, it was a pleasure to make a visit recently in order to provide in-person training for the in-house crew on the live system and it was exciting to see XMove in operation for live public performances during the inaugural season at the venue. Everyone was impressed to learn how easy it is to get started and keen to further their knowledge and experience with XMove.
